Sunday 15 October 2023 – 11am – Théâtre de l’Élysée – free admission
The artists Carole Karemera (Rwanda), Jeanne Diama and Assitan Tangara (Mali) and Zora Snake (Cameroon) have come together to address the issue of creation in African countries marked by wars or former conflicts, and where the after-effects of colonisation are still tangible.
While each of these artists deals with issues of remembrance, reconstruction and post-colonialism, what they have in common is that they work in their towns and, more broadly, in their countries, to promote artistic creation and access to culture for all. This meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss this other aspect of their work, which is rooted in a political and societal approach based on the festivals and associations they have founded in Rwanda, Mali and Cameroon.
