How do you fit your whole life, and 37 years of theatre work, into a 23kg suitcase? What do you leave behind, what do you take with you when you close the door for good? What do we carry inside us, in our veins and genes, the baggage bequeathed to us by our ancestors that makes us who we are? And how do we start afresh, find our place but keep our voice, so that we can continue to bear witness, and resist, in exile?
Having fled Russia and taken refuge in France with her team following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Tatiana Frolova and KnAM Théâtre are preparing their new production in an attempt to answer these questions.
Drawing on the experience of each member of the troupe and the testimonies of people still in Russia and those living around them in France, KnAM Théâtre’s Nous ne sommes plus… will talk about exile, memory, Russia and the trace we leave in the world.
